Holiday-makers travelling through Ecuador to Colombia will no doubt be aware of the current high state of tension between the two countries, following the Colombian army's attack on a FARC rebel training camp located just inside Ecuador.
Although no civilians, or indeed Ecuadoreans, were in any way affected by the operation, all diplomatic contacts have been broken between the two countries and it is possible that the border may be closed unless a diplomatic solution is found in the next few weeks.
We would like to stress that no holidays in Ecuador have been affected in any way as the attack took place in deep rainforest near the Colombian border in an area that is restricted to use by the Ecuadorean army. Should the situation change with regard to travel to/from Colombia or in any other way, we will update our website with the latest news.
