The island of Isabela is a popular part of many Galapagos cruises, and is famous for its giant Alcedo tortoises, dolphins and whales, and also for its active volcanoes. One of these, Cerro Azul, has recently erupted after a decade-long inactive phase.
Cerro Azul is located 48km away from the village of Puerto Villamil - the only settlement on Isabela - and at the moment there is no danger to the village and all cruises and tours are operating as normal. We will, of course, keep all our customers updated if things change.
